Mollys color challenge

I think I might have blogged more times already this year than I did last year in total... almost. Well, here's another post for you today, one more for the cybercrop at Mollys Scrapbooking:

It's an ultrasound picture of baby Samuel, for his baby album. It's made for the color challenge, in which to use kraft, teal and white. I've also added a little red and black to this layout. I've put the picture in a plastic pocket, to keep it safe, and as usual, it's virtually impossible to get a decent photo of it.

Here's a short post for you today, while I'm waiting for the gesso to dry on my latest project, featuring a couple of layouts I made for the ongoing cybercrop at Svensk Scrapbooking. The first one is for the sketch challenge, and it's my amazing Albin times three. I can't tell you just how blessed I am to have this one-of-a-kind smart, kind, empathic and generous little person for my son. I just adore him.

The next one is of the newest addition to our family - my super-cute little nephew Samuel, here cuddling with his sweet sister Nathalie. Isn't he adorable? Look at those dimples! ♥

OK, I think the gesso (trying out a new kind today, which I can tell already won't be a favourite, because it smells horribly) is dry enough for a second coat, so I had better get back to my little project again.

Let's live a colorful life

Here's another challenge from the cybercrop at Mollys. The challenge was to be inspired by this photo, and the twist was not to add anything straight.

I chose to make a full spread in my art journal, where I was inspired by the colors, and the building. I primed the pages with gesso, built up some texture with a brick wall mask and some texture paste, and then I used Distress reinkers to paint my brick walls. After that I added some embellisments, more gesso, and glimmer mist in various colors. I also mixed up some mist of my own from the Distress reinkers to fully match the colors of my brick walls.

I also added some crackle accent, doodling and my fav little stamp, and voila, a spread that is totally unlike me, but it was extremely inpiring to make, and it made me go even further on another art journal project, which I'm extremely happy about, but that I cannot show you just yet. You know, how one thing leads to another, and then you are suddenly sitting in a room which is covered in mists and paints, and you find yourself covered in it too...

I think I'm finally going to go put together that other art journal that I've been thinking of making for ages. I've got the cover all ready, just need to add some pages to it... Luckily, there are still a few days left of the Christmas break, so I have plenty of more time for being creative.

Vintage

One of the challenges at Mollys is scrapping vintage-style. I used to do that, a lot, but lately my style has been more clean and simple, and more towards mixed media. So getting myself into vintage-scrapping mode was a challenge, for sure. But I dug out some all-time favourites, G45 Steampunk Debutante, and as always, those papers almost scrapped themselves.

 I found the photo on the internet, because my stash of vintage photos is quite limited, and I wanted something really cute for this layout.

There's a lot of layering going on here. So much fun!

WTF?

That's exactly what I thought when this happened... I was sitting there, photographing the Christmas tree, when suddenly this madman jumped in front of it. I kept snapping, forgot all about it, and then later, when I flipped through the photos in the computer, and I came across the Christmas tree/madman sequence, I almost said it out loud. WTF? So of course, that had to be the title of this layout.

The layout is based on a sketch from the cybercrop at Mollys Scrapbooking, the madman happens to be my brother-in-law, and the papers are my absolutely last scraps of MME's All is Bright line.

Cybercrop at Mollys

It's December, Christmas has passed, we're on a break, and FINALLY I feel like I have a few moments to spare for scrapbooking! So I scrap, and lucky for me, there are two cybercrops going on in this country of mine at the same time. That's very good for the mojo.

First up, I'd like to show you a thing I made for a challenge at Mollys Scrapbooking. It's an altered matchbox, with texture-paste snow and mini-mini bookpage trees.

So, what do you think of pink as a Christmas color? It has been sneaking itself into my home these past couple of years, for instance in the shape of this pinkish Lisbeth Dahl ornament that I bought in Denmark last year. I used pink letter stickers and mini rhinestones for my altered matchbox, so it would fit into this new color scheme for Christmas.

Here's a clseup of the smallest tree. It's only an inch high, and made from a few pages from an old dictionary.

I've finished a few more challenges for both crops already, and I hope to be able to blog them all over the next few days, along with a couple of DT-assignments, but I do have to fight the rest of the family for access to the one laptop where I'm able to upload and process my photos, and since they are three to one, I don't get lucky that often.

A double pager...

I've made a double pager layout. I never make double pagers. Never. Well, I have made, lets see, three of them before. And I've been a scrapbooker for almost four years. Now, that's how often I make double pagers.

This time I had to make one. I'm participating in a cybercrop at JP Hobby, and one of the challenges is to make a double pager out of a certain colourful (EEEK) kit, and to add some 3D effect to the layouts. Considering how uncomfortable I am with double pagers, and the colorfulnes of the kit, the conditions to get started on this one weren't the best. There was nothing even remotely similar to vintage in the kit, and the colours... well, they were a little too much for me, to be honest. But this is what I came up with, and, well, it's OK, I guess. At least I love the photos that are on it. And the colour scheme is perfect for them.
Here's my 3D effect - some of the letters are mounted on foam scuares to make them higher than the others. I outlined them with a thin black pen to add to the impression that they are floating a little bit above the layout.

Here's what I did from another one of the Cybercrop kits. Now, this is more of what I like. You can't go wrong with pink, can you? And this reminds me of how long ago it was since the last time I used pink. I bought a bunch of pink flowers a while back, and I also won a big bag of pink roses, and I haven't touched any of them. That's probably because there's nothing pink in the new G45 collections, which is what I have been using the most lately.

This is a booklet of Friday tickets, for my kids. I have Friday afternoons off, most of the time, and through these tickets, they can choose what they want to do these afternoons.

And, incredible, no ink, no sanded edges and no edge distresser anywhere on this one. That feels a bit weird, actually.

So, it's Sunday afternoon, it's raining, and I'm going to get busy in my scrap room, finishing up another cybercrop challenge - altering an empty toilet roll. Last time I did that, it turned into a mushroom, this time I don't know what it's supposed to resemble, really. It's just some weird thingy derived from a toilet roll. Yeah, I'll show you when it's done, if I'm not too embarrased to post it.

Scrappiz' Cybercrop

I got two more layouts and one more card made for the CC at Scrappiz. I know I could have made a lot more, but there are always other things that have to be made. I'm not sure I' m too happy about any of these. I don't know, they aren't embellished as much as I usually make them.

This one has really cute photos at least. It's Albin and his adorable little girlfriend who have fallen asleep on the couch. Cozy, huh?
And the next one... well, there's a story behind this photo. We had friends over, and the kids were outside playing in the snow so that their poor mothers could be able to do some scrapping. Suddenly, my friend's little three-year-old comes running and tells me that I must grab my camera and come out and take some pictures. And this is what I was supposed to take pictures of, Albin, sitting as high up in an apple tree as possible. When I got him down from there, I asked what the was thinking, climbing so high. He said: "But mom, I just wanted you to get a couple of good photos to scrap!" Yeah, I sure did get a decent photo, and a good scare too. *LOL*

Yeah, and a card. A little bit different than I normally make them. Don't know if I like it...

Today I was at a local crop here at home, and I actually got four layouts made! Well, two of them aren't complete, because there's always some things you didn't know you needed to bring, right? But I'll try to finish them in a couple of days and blog them when I can.

Cybercrop again...

There's a cybercrop at the Swedish scrap community Scrappiz this week, and I made this card yesterday for a challenge there. I don't know how much more I will be able to participate, but I have found a couple of sketches I want to use, so I'll try getting those done at least :-)

Another layout...

Here's another layout I made for the Nook VC I won a prize with this one too, a Martha Stewart punch. I don't know which one, but that will be a nice surprise when it comes. The challenge here was to stitch a heart on your layout. I stitched the one in the upper left corner straight onto the layout, and then I added two cross-stitched hearts as well.

This is the layout I was telling you about with the October Afternoon parers, also made for a challenge at the Nook. I think it turned out pretty OK :-)

Oh well, gotta run. I've got two sick kids to take care of, and a house that's been turned completely upside down today while I've been at work. So please leave a little comment, I'm surely going to need every little bit of encouragement today ;-)

Edit: I sure did get some encouragement... I actually won this contest. And the prize was a GDT-spot at Scrapping the Music Germany. So, I'm off to make a happy dance :-)

There are no monsters...

For some reason, Agnes is terrified of monsters... The whole time she has been sharing her brother's room, she has been afraid that a monster would come out from the closet. Yeah, it's from watching Monsters INC. Letting the kids watch that movie probably wasn't the brightest idea I've got. However, once her room was finished, and she got to move all of her stuff in there, she hasn't been afraid. No more nightmares and worried nights, because she's convinced that no monsters can come in to that room. The fist thing she said when the room was all done and we let her in to check it out was: There are no monsters here. It's probably all the pink, girly stuff in there that scares them away *LOL*. Anyway, that comment she made was so sweet, and it definitely deserved a layout of it's own.

I've made the layout for a challenge at the VC at the Nook, which has taken place this weekend. The challenge was to use chipboard, and I used a couple of swirls from Maya Road, which I inked with Fluid Chalk creamy brown and covered with Glimmer Mist pearl. The papers are from Making Memories and Melissa Frances and the flowers are all from old candle rings.

Cybercrop

There's a Cybercrop this weekend at my favourite forum, Svensk Scrapbooking. It's a bunch of shop owners who have arranged this crop, and there were loads of amazing challenges! I'm almost ashamed since I didn't have time to do more than three challenges. But I've also been working hard on some other projecs this weekend.

This is for a sketch challenge, and I decided to scrap a few pirate photos of Albin. I've used up a bunch of old papers, and that's always nice :) Isn't he a cool little pirate?
The next one is for a challenge where you were supposed to scrap about a fall journey. I made this layout about the journey I always make into fall. I brought my camera for a walk with the kids earlier today, and the sun came out of the clouds just as I passed this beautiful maple tree. Speaking of beautiful, these BG Granola papers are just amazing, don't you think?
