August layout for Riddersholm Design

It's Monday today, but I had to stay at home from work with Albin, who has caught a cold. It's always like this - two weeks into the school term the bugs attack, and someone gets ill.

I have a layout to share today with the Fall Flea Market collection from Riddersholm Design. The photo is from this summer, and the days we spent in a rented beach house in Småland. The weather was perfect those days, and we spent a lot of time hanging out on the cliffs by the sea. I sometimes wish I had a house like that, on the beach, to spend warm summer days in. Actually, we do have a piece of land stretching down to the shore, and one day, I hope to be able to open up the woods out there just a little bit, and build myself a tiny cabin with a sea-view, and a path leading out to the little island that is part of our property. I know there are tons of rules and regulations that most likely will stop this from happening, but still... I might just park a litte vintage camper out there to use as a beach shack. I don't think anyone can stop me from doing that.

OK, enough with the dreaming, and let's just get back to the layout. I totally adore this sunburst paper from Riddersholm design, and the best thing is that I have it in both 12X12" and 6X6", so I can use it a lot... You will se a card with it in a few days.

This is for Denmark

This week has been all about the Eurovision Song Contest in our house. The kids and I love the whole thing, and we have been listening through the songs over and over again. Our initial favourites were Hungary (a bit of a surprise, there) and Iceland. Eh, well, Agnes has been crazy about the Finnish Bridezilla since she heard that song for the first time, but of course, that song would be right up a seven-year-old girl's alley.

We loved Denmark's song too, of course. Who wouldn't? It's amazing. We're extremely thrilled that Denmark won the ESC, and I think it's hilarious that the contest next will be held only 20 minutes away from where it was yesterday. The fact that Emmelie is half Swedish doesn't hurt either. WTG, Denmark, and congratulations, dear neighbors.

What way would be better to celebrate this occasion onm the blog than with a couple of things from the amazing Danish manufacurer, the design team of which I am a little bit extra proud of belonging to today, Riddersholm Design. So here's a layout and a card for you today.

Farm Girl Friday April

It's Farm Girl Friday again at the Riddersholm Design blog. The DT was challenged with a spring theme, light colors, and recycle a bit, using their favourite non-scrapbooking accessory. Here's what I made:

 And here's my favourite non-scrappy item to use - tiny lightbulbs, coming from an old electric candlestick. They are adorable to tuck in here and there between flowers and other embellishments on a layout or a card.

A determined little lady

Here's a layout with the Huntington Garden collection from Riddersholm Design. It's Agnes on the photo, having fun in the rain. I really like how she combined her raincoat with those tiny little shorts and wellies... She's such a crazy, silly girl, that one.

We've had a really calm and nice weekend. The sun has been shining a lot, and as usual, the first real sunny days of spring have revealed something horrible... my extremely dirty windows. I hate cleaning windows, mostly because I'm no good at it. I just can't get them clean enough, and there's always some annoying stripe or stain left when I think I'm done. Of course I won't notice it until the next time the sun comes on. Ugh... Anyway, I caved in and cleaned the kitchen windows today. That was all I had time for, but it feels good to have at least that done. Now I only have the rest of the house... and then the farmhouse on top of that. Sigh.

Anyway, tomorrow's Monday, and a new week full of adventures awaits! Have a good one!

Chillin'

Today is a day for chillin'. My little man has caught a stomach bug, and even though he's through being sick (i hope) we still have to stay at home. So, we're just chillin' with the telly, the iPad and the computer. Oh, well, I'm all over the house as usual, picking up something here, wiping off something there, putting away stuff and all those other little things that mothers do. Once in a while, I pause by an ongoing art project, and once in a while, I'm by the computer printing photos, checking my emails or, like right now, updating the blog.

This little lady was also chillin' on New Year's Eve, in her very best dress (all satin, tulle and glitter, you know), and, as most of the photos I snap of her, this photo ended up on a layout. I went for a vintage feel this time, although I see myself straying away from that more and more, and I used an amazing technique I caught from one of the Creative Jump Start Summit 2013 videos.

 

I have used texture paste and stamps to create my background, plus a fair amount of gesso and glimmer mist. I really love clustering embellishments and knick-knack together on my layouts, and I love that I can make them blend in, whatever color they were from the beginning. This is such a great way of getting rid of what you have got lying around and never use.

The pretty papers are from Riddersholm Design, and the background stamps are from You-Do.

I'm back with a very short post for you today with another spread in my art journal.Yes, I am getting braver like that.

I've used some papers and elements from the Fleamarket collection from Riddersholm Design, and tons of blue glimmer mist.

Another She-art canvas

It's Friday again, and even though the weather is a bit so-so today, it feels like it's going to be a good day. I have this weekend completely open, haven't decided on anything yet, and that feels great. I might start up a project at the farm, or I might just stay at home and try to catch up on everyday chores, where I'm a bit behind, to be honest. But the fresh air and high skies at the farm seem very alluring at the moment. So, we'll see.

I made a she-art canvas with elements from the Huntington Garden collection, from Riddersholm Design, and that's what I have to show to you today. I really like the balloon theme in the collection, and I wanted to use it on my canvas somehow.

I ravaged my stash for little things to add to this canvas, to make it more interesting, and then I covered it all in white acrylic paint. I love making these things! I just don't know where to put them all.

Riddersholm Ink-It

How about that? I'm actually updating today as well! I have a few cards and a layout to show, with papers and new inkable/mistable or whatever-you-want-to-doable Ink-It flowers from Riddersholm Design. I really, really love these flowers, and there are just so many things you can do with them (I actually gave the kids a few each to play with, and you should see the marvellous creations they came up with.)You might want to check out the Riddersholm blog for tutorials on these flowers, from me and from the other designers.

First up is a card with papers from the fabulous Fleamarket collection. I just love the blues and browns of this collection, and it is so versatile for all kinds of layouts, cards and other pieces.

Nest up is a card with the Huntington Garden collection, and this might just me my so far favourite Riddersholm collection. I love the theme of it, the soft colors and the vintage-y patterns. The pinkish coral tone in the paper turned out to be a perfect match for one of the Glimmer Mists I had at home, so I just misted these adorable cherry blossoms for the card.

Here's Huntington Garden again, with its greyish purplish tones. And again the ballons... I love balloons!

Sooo, today is a lovely, sunny day here in the south of Sweden. Agnes has dance practise this evening, and Albin has football practise. Myself, I have a batch of laundry to deal with after work, and then there are lessons to plan and bags to pack for tomorrow. Just another day in the life, in other words, but an unusually bright one.

Let your imagination soar

Here's a layout for you today that I made with the Huntington Garden collection from Riddersholm Design. I just love those cute little ballons, so I cut them out and used foam adhesive to make them pop a little. Then I added some bakers twine, and that's about it.

Now, imagine that I used a proper camera to take that photo of Agnes instead of my iPhone. It would be so much better, right? All in all, I've become lazy, and most of the time I use the iPhone instead of taking out the proper camera. I have a Canon EOS 400D, that I love dearly, but I have been a bit too busy to nurture my interest in photography lately, so the Canon has more or less been sitting on a shelf only to be taken down when I need to photograph a layout or some other papercrafted item for the blogs and galleries. The iPhone is so much easier to use, since I carry it with me all the time. However, the spark i needed to rekindle my photography interest came yesterday, when I got a Canon EOS 60D in my hands, and was able to take it out for a test shoot. I loved it! The idea of upgrading to a 60D has struck me before, but I never knew that the difference between it and my dear old 400D would be that big. It can do things my 400D cannot, and I think I really, really need one. I took this photo yesterday, and this is what came out, totally unedited (I just cropped it a little)

Just Chillin' with Riddersholm

Last winter, we had snow, and plenty of it. The kids took advantage of that, of course. We found an old kick-sled in the shed at the farm, and it was tested thoroughly on our driveway. Albin ran back and forth with it, and then, of course, he had to take a break. So here he is, just chillin'.

This year, we've had no snow so far, and it's been really, really warm. That's great if you think about the electrical bills, but it's no fun!

In a Christmas mood

Tomorrow is the first of Advent. Wow, what on earth happened to this autumn? Where did November go so fast? I haven't even felt a touch of the usual November dreariness, although last week was very dark and dull. I spent most of that week at home with my sick little ones. To tell the truth, I haven't been feeling all that well either, we've had a rather bad cold which has surely taken its toll on oss. Anyway, tomorrow is the first of Advent, and I've got both my houses ready for it, with bright white stars in every window, wreaths on the doors and white hyacinths in cups and bowls here and there. It's the first year ever I have two houses to decorate, and even though it's tons of fun, I still wish there was only one house, and that we were settled in the farmhouse  instead of going back and forth between the houses, realising that the one thing you need when you're in one house is in the other one.

Still, tonight I'm sitting in front of a nicely sparkling fire in the farmhouse, listening to some wonderful Christmas music by Tommy Körberg (he has the most magnificent voice there is) and really getting in the mood. And while I'm in the mood, I thought I'd show you something a little bit Christmassy - a way to upcycle a dead plant to a decoration for Christmas.

I'm by no means a gardening wiz. Quite the contrary, I kill every plant I get in my hands, or onto my windowsill, that is. Like this olive tree. When the last leaf fell, and I realized that it probably hadn't got any water for at least a month, a little idea came to me. Why not make something funny out of it instead of throwing it away? So, I painted the whole tree white, put it in a wooden spool and sprayed it with Glimmer Mist Pearl to make it shimmer like a vampire in sunlight (yeah, I saw Breaking Dawn last night) Then I decorated it with snowflakes punched out of Graphic 45 papers and a chipboard sign, and now I can still keep it on my windowsill even though it's dead. Pretty nice, huh?

So, now I can keep killing plants without feeling bad about it... LOL. Everything I used (except for the tree itself) can be found at Scraplagret.

Have a very nice Saturday evening, and the very best first of Advent, everybody! Myself, I'll be spending tomorrow watching the kids taking swimming lessons, to start with. Then we will go out and have a Christmas meal with P's parents, and since it's also P's 40th birtday, there's all the more reason to celebrate.

Christmas is closing in on us

And it's moving fast... I've no idea if I'm going to have time to make enough Christmas cards to send out to people this year, or if I will have to do like last year, and buy some. Anyway, this is a little box I altered using papers from the wonderful Christmas collection The Day Before from Riddersholm Design. I LOVE this collecrion.

In the little bubble on top of the lid, I have decorated with miniature Christmas trees, also made from patterned paper, and a whole lot of glitter.

So, that's it for today. We're preparing for a new school/work week, if my daughter is feeling OK tomorrow morning, that is. She has a sore throat and she is coughing a little, poor girl, but hopefully she will feel a lot better in the morning.

Last week, I received a package with the magnificent new lines from Riddersholm Design, including this one, Chantilly Dawn. I am completely in love with this line, it has the softest colors and the pretties patterns ever. I love it.

Albin and the sea.

Last week, we visited Haväng, our favourite beach in Skåne. The weather wasn't great for swimming, but we collected some driftwood (which has now turned into a lamp, and a few other home decor items, totally fun!) and pretty stones. And took a lot of photos, of course.
When we got home, I flipped through my papers from Riddersholm Design and found these from the Turqoise Hills collection. They couldn't be more perfect for this photo, could they? Just look at the colors.

I've used the sketch for the ongoing challenge at Challenge Me Happy - my new fav challenge blog (and I'm not saying that just because I happened to win their first challenge - I like the diversity of their challenges - it's not only sketches, but different things every time and so much fun)

Hi!

I'm just stopping in for a short post today, showing you a little mini book in a box that I made for Riddersholm Design. I really love the teals and browns of this collection, Turqoise Hill's.

I've printed out quotes that I think are really worth thinking about, and put them into the mini that is in the box.

That's it for now. I'd better get back to my project for the day - sorting out some of the mess in my scraproom, and at least get all of my embellishments in some kind of order... It's not the funniest thing to do on a summer day, but the good thing about it is that I keep finding pretty things I had totally forgot that I had, and that's great.

My first layout for Riddersholm Design

I got a package last week loaded with goodness from Riddersholm Design. For this layout I've used the yummy collection Bello Pastello. Agnes just turned 5, and this is she, just before all of her little guests arrived to her party. Can you guess she was anxious?
Don't you just love this little pink cameo charm? It's lovely!
