We woke up at the farmhouse yesterday morning without electricity. In our case, that also means no water... We were ten people here (we had guests over Midsummer) and no means of taking a shower or using the toilet! Luckily, we have our little generator, so we could get enough power to run the water pump for a little while, filling up some bottles for drinking and washing our hands.
Some guys from the power company came out instantly, and pretty soon they figured out that the cables must be damaged somewhere, and that it would probably take quite some time to get that fixed. So they set us up with a big diesel generator, which arrived yesterday evening, and has been huffing and puffing outside all night providing us and four more houses with power. I don't mind the huffing and puffing, though, I'm just happy that we have power. I've never given this a thought while living up in the village, because there we always had water and heat, even if the power was out. It's a bit different out here, where the water comes from our own well, and has to be pumped up into the tap using electricity.
Just now, when I came back from my morning walk, I saw three heads sticking up from a hole in the ground, and it looked like they had found the spot where the cable was damaged, and were well on the way of mending it. So I guess the huffing and puffing will be over soon. I'm pretty amazed at how quickly they set us up with the generator, though, and how quickly they are taking care of this.
Yeah, I do have a layout to share with you today, too. I probably wouldn't be blogging if I hadn't. The papers are Olde Curiosity Shoppe from Graphic 45 (and you all know how much I love G45, right?) All the supplies are from Scraplagret.
So, my Summer holidays have begun, and I won't be able to say "I don't have time for this" for a bit over 7 weeks. Lovely! Now I'm going to do the dishes, and then it's time to get some lunch on the table. After that, I have a whole bunch of lovely flowers from Riddersholm Design to play with, and make tutorials from, so I'm going to pick out my inks and mists and have me some scrappy fun!
Have a nice Sunday, everyone!
