On top of the world

Good morning!

Today is a wonderful day - the sun is shining and the skies are wonderfully blue against the white snow. We are going to spend it in town to do some shopping, and going to see a movie.

Here's a layout I made for a challenge at En Liten Butik. The challenge is based on a bingo grid, where you get to choose one column and use the tings in it on your layout. The column I chose had Glimmer Mist, pins, fabric, and a star.
The background is a navy blue cardstock, which I primed with gesso. Then I used some punchinella and multi-medium to create some texture, and then I cut out some square pieces of a thicker cardstock, stamped a bit on them, and glued them onto  the background. Then I misted the paper with Dylusions mists in blue, purple and orange, plus some Glimmer Mist in Iridesent Gold, which I put on to make the Dylusions mists blend and run a little bit. It also made them more transparent. I could have used water for that, but I wanted the background to glimmer a bit.

The photo is from one of our favourite places in the world, Kåseberga in Skåne. We went there last summer, the kids and I while P was working (as usual), and lucky for us, the weather that day turned out to be perfect for paragliding. So we had our picknick surrounded by these paragliders, and the kids thought they were so cool. Later, Agnes climbed up on top of one of the big rocks of the stone ship, and I got this lovely photo of her. She had been a bit grumpy getting up there, because the paths are very steep, but when we finally got up, she loved it, and having an ice cream in the little fishing village below the hill made her grumpiness go away completely.

Have a great day!

Another layout!

I found a challenge att Månadens utmaning. I was inspired by the colors of the picture, and this is how my layout turned out:
It's a photo from this summer, when the weather finally was nice enough to hop into the boat and go for a ride. We have a tiny little boat in the creek, and it takes us less than ten minutes to reach the sea from there. Unfortunately, this was the only boat ride we did last summer, because the weather wasn't so great, and P worked all the time. Still, it was lovely. We found a small bay, with a small beach, which used to be very nice, according to P, but it was totally overgrown now, so we couldn't go for a swim there. It was perfect for a picknick, though. P is the one who's familiar with the area, and I wouldn't dare going out there by my own, because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to find my way back home among all the reed in the rivermouth. Still, maybe this little captain could learn to find the way better than me some day.

My Boys

I've been working with my Sprinklers again. I really love how they are really, really matte and chalky-like, and completely opaque. I've been using the colors Icebox and Springs here. So, both the background and the flowers have been misted here.

I found the sketch at Strömstad Scrapbooking, and I really, really liked it (since it's one of Ulrika's sketches, of course). I tweaked it a little bit, only used the sketch for part of my layout, and made the rest of it into white space.
This is really a favourite photo of mine, from this summer. I've used it before, and I might scrap it again. Who knows?

Cousins

I found this very cute sketch while surfing the internet, and I knew I had to give it a go. It's for a challenge at Scrapateljén. I misted away, and then I worked with stamps to create the background for the photo. I added a tiny scrap of patterned paper, and a doily, and that's it. This really must be one of the flattest pages I've ever made... LOL

Skating

We're so lucky to have our little farm. It's amazing in the summer, with the rolling green hills, the creek, the woods and the sea so close. Not to mention the wildlife - the buzzards hovering over the fields, the fox slipping away through a gap in the bushes, the nightingale singing its heart out at dusk, and the roe deer grazing gently outside the kitchen window. The farm is also truly amazing in the winter, with the perfect slope for sledding just outside the front door, and the cozy fireplace ready for warming you up afterwards. It's not always snow where we live, but we've had our fair share of it this winter.

There is also a field nearby, belonging to a neighbor, which almost always gets flooded in the autumn, and when it freezes, it's perfect for skating. We went skating there a couple of weeks ago. The weather was perfect, and I snapped quite a few shots of the kids and the girls next door. We looked for animal tracks in the snow, and we found tracks from both fox, deer and several birds. We also found some very mysterious tracks, which turned out to be from a Saab...

What's so great about that field  is that you can be out in the nature, skating, and not having to worry about falling in. There's no water underneath, just a meadow.

I made this layout from the February sketch from Lillblomman. I tried to stay true to the sketch, but I think I strayed pretty far away from it in the end.I hope some elements are still discernable, like the tag (which in this case became three...), and the placement of the lace and the flowers.
This is, like, the first layout I've made in ages completely without patterned papers. I went a bit crazy with my Sprinklers on the background, and there was no room for papers once I started putting it together. Most of the supplies are from my second prize from last moth's sketch at the same site. I got this most adorable little package from sweet Ulrika the other day, whith some lovely doilies, flowers, lace, and other goodies. I just had to use some of it right away. Thank you so, so much, Ulrika! I loved it!

Ok, well, I think I had better go blow my nose and head back to the couch to get some rest. Sinusitis really sucks, don't you think?

Happy Valentines Day, everyone!

Scrappy 2013

OMG, January just flew by, and I've been way too busy to update the blog for a couple of weeks! But tonight I just have to share a calendar I made for a challenge at Svensk Scrapbooking's New Years Crop.
It's just an ordinary notebook that I've decorated a little bit to use for writing down calls, challenges and crops I'd like to take part in. I see them on the web, and I decide to participate and maybe I even scribble something down on a piece of paper, which sorta disappears in the mess in my studio. Most often I forget all about it, and when I finally remember, or find that note again, it's way past the deadline... Well, no more, because now I have this little book to help me remember!

Eh... to be honest... I'm not sure where I have the book right now, but it's somewhere here in this mess... Well, that's who I am ;)

Have a nice Sunday, everyone!
